Programme proposal

The II Córdoba Forum would span a minimum of three days, depending on the funding secured.

The aim of the II Córdoba Forum will be to analyse geopolitical situations in order to demonstrate, through good practices and innovative projects, that we can prevent crises and disasters, adapt to change, live together better, and encourage our institutions to develop policies and strategies of Convivence.

The II Córdoba Forum will be structured around the following thematic areas:

  1. Convivence and climate change.
  2. Convivence among communities.
  3. Promoters of convivence.

Preferably on a Thursday, from 19:30.

  • Public opening ceremony, ideally chaired by a member of the Royal Family.
  • Introductory address on Convivence by a distinguished keynote speaker.
  • Presentation of the II Forum by its President.
  • Dinner reception hosted by a public institution.

The second day would last approximately nine hours, excluding coffee breaks and lunch.

Plenary session:

  • A plenary session would bring together around fifteen actors —NGOs, IGOs, communities and businesses— acting as “Promoters of Convivence”, whether globally or in specific contexts.
  • Participants would be selected according to their concrete commitment to Convivence.
  • Each contribution would include a 12–15-minute presentation followed by 8–10 minutes for discussion.
  • During the final hour, a Rapporteur would synthesise the discussions and draw out the main conclusions.

Cultural and institutional activities:

  • Guided visit to the Mosque–Cathedral of Córdoba, including a visit of the chapel of Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, a pioneer of interculturality.
  • Dinner and cultural performance at Caballerizas Reales of Córdoba.

Introductory Session:

The day would open with a brief plenary session presenting the recommendations formulated by the “Promoters of Convivence” —actors working towards a form of living together in peace, in the spirit of the United Nations formulation.

(Saturday, 12:00–14:00)

  • The two working groups will meet from 10:00 to 12:00 before presenting their conclusions in plenary session.
  • One or more awards will be presented to candidates proposed by NGOs, communities or businesses.
  • The Córdoba Forum, World Convivence Forum, will notably recognise initiatives proposed by young promoters of Convivence.
  • Buffet lunch and departure of participants.

Should sufficient resources be available, a Youth Seminar —following the model of the one preceding the I Forum— would be organised ahead of the Forum, and its participants would be integrated into it.

If such a seminar cannot be organised, those who took part in the first Youth Seminar would nevertheless be invited to attend the II Forum.

The Seminar would begin on Wednesday and conclude late Thursday afternoon.
