World Convivence Forum

Youth Seminar

On the occasion of the International Day of Living Together in Peace, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly, the Forum brought together leaders and young people to build connections, inspire, and promote change towards a better world: a world of greater convivence.

Prior to the Forum, a two-day seminar was held, bringing together young people from around the world. Participants had a unique opportunity to practise dialogue and explore its different forms.

Giving young people the opportunity to engage in dialogue

The Youth Seminar aims to equip participants with practical skills and the capacity for engagement in dialogue and peacebuilding, in order to generate positive changes in their own lives and communities. Over the two days, participants will receive hands-on training and gain practical experience in the principles of dialogue.

Dialogue has been chosen as the theme of the Seminar, as it is a key tool for building peace and convivence. Acquiring these skills and putting them into practice fosters teamwork, as well as the ability to express oneself and to listen. The development of empathy is also a result of this practice, as it enables a better understanding of others’ perspectives: the aim is not to agree, but to reach mutual respect and shared understanding. This is what “living together in peace” means.

The Seminar’s team of experts will guide participants through workshops focusing on culture, identities and worldviews, conflict and peacebuilding, as well as accurate and inaccurate perceptions. These themes will help young people to overcome stereotypes and develop critical thinking, in order to bring together diverse individuals and groups and build peaceful communities based on shared values.

At the end of the Seminar, these future leaders will receive a certificate of participation, and, above all, the tools needed to share their experience of dialogue within their communities and beyond. They will also gain practical skills to design and implement initiatives inspired by dialogue.

Selected young participants will also be invited to take part in the Córdoba Forum, where they will have the opportunity to apply their newly acquired skills and contribute meaningfully to the success of the Forum, bringing a youth perspective to the search for solutions to the challenges faced by their generation and those to come.
