Activities
Since 2023, we have been devoted to preparing and promoting the II Córdoba Forum, World Convivence Forum.
Activities
The Forum’s practice is conceived as a form of “diapraxis”, grounding dialogue in positive and inspiring examples oriented towards action.
Approach
The aim is to inform and raise awareness among civil society, from Córdoba to the rest of the world, about the importance of convivence, not only for intercultural and interreligious dialogue, but also within businesses and organisations in relation to social and environmental responsibility, as well as in territories where, with accelerating climate change and its social, environmental and economic impacts, the future of democracy is at stake.
First activities
During May 2023, several round tables were organised, financed through IMDEEC’s ESAL programme (Municipal Institute for Economic Development and Employment of Córdoba), on:
- Convivence and adaptation to climate change (3 May 2023)
- Living Convivence: the example of Melilla (9 May 2023)
- Sports, Youth and Convivence (16 May, 2023)
Activities for the preparation and outreach of the Forum
Following the first initiatives developed in 2023, the Córdoba Forum has continued to strengthen its network and outreach through local, national and international actions aimed at promoting convivence as a concrete, inclusive and transformative practice.
Local network and civil society mobilisation
In 2024, the Commission for the preparation of the II Córdoba Forum, World Convivence Forum, was created as a space for dialogue and coordination among institutional, academic, social and cultural actors. Its aim has been to mobilise civil society and build lasting alliances helping make convivence a living reality across territories.
In Córdoba and its province, contacts and collaborations have been developed with the University of Córdoba, the Rectorate, FUNDECOR ((University Foundation for the Development of the Province of Córdoba), the Department of Culture, the Social Council, associations, foundations and various cultural, social and educational entities. These actions have helped broaden participation and strengthen the commitment of different sectors of society.
Institutional collaboration
At the same time, relations with public administrations have been strengthened, particularly with Córdoba City Council, IMDEEC, IMTUR (Municipal Tourism Institute of Córdoba) and the Provincial Council, as well as with organisations involved in international cooperation and economic development. The aim has been to foster synergies, promote joint projects and strengthen the Forum’s territorial dimension.
Academic and awareness-raising activities
During this period, various academic and awareness-raising activities have been carried out. Among them, the seminar “Eating Together: an Act of convivence”, organised at the University of Córdoba, brought together experts and participants from different cultural backgrounds.
In addition, publications, studies and contributions within international dialogue networks have also been encouraged. In this context, the Forum collaborated in 2025 on a special issue of the journal Approches Coopératives, devoted to convivence, bringing together reflections and experiences from a range of countries.
National and international network
At national and international level, the Forum has expanded its network of contacts with organisations, intercultural dialogue networks, academic institutions, embassies and international bodies, particularly in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. The publication, in 2025, of the special issue of Approches Coopératives has also helped strengthen the Forum’s international outreach and its visibility in academic and cooperation circles.
International projects
Internationally, the project “Tangier, City of Convivence” has been launched, helping prepare the celebration of the International Day of Living Together in Peace, in collaboration with local partners, including the signing of institutional agreements with cultural and academic organisations.
Digital platform and communication
In parallel, work has been undertaken to develop and enhance the Forum’s digital platform, strengthening its visibility, content and communication tools. This work facilitates the exchange of experiences, the sharing of successful examples and the emergence of new initiatives across different territories.
These actions reflect the Córdoba Forum’s commitment to a living convivence, action-oriented and grounded in cooperation, mutual learning and the creation of lasting ties among people, institutions and communities.
