Analysis, reflections and perspectives on convivence around the world.
Message from the President
Dear readers of the Córdoba Forum, World Convivence Forum, long-standing supporters and new visitors alike,
WELCOME BACK!
We are back, with a new website, after more than a year of absence. Our site is undergoing a true revival, and we are delighted about it while expressing our gratitude to all those —volunteers and professionals alike— who have contributed to this reconstruction, in particular the Khaled Ousseimi Foundation for its financial support and the company Expacioweb (Córdoba) for its essential technical assistance.
This platform is to the II Córdoba Forum, World Convivence Forum, what the sailboat leaving the harbour is to the horizon: the announcement, the preparation, the hope of an event that may still be distant, even uncertain, but in whose coming we continue to believe because… without ideals, what would life be worth?
This ideal, the II Córdoba Forum, World Convivence Forum, is led by President Javier Martín and the members of an entity whose very name reflects its purpose: the Paradigma Córdoba Foundation for Convivence, of which the undersigned has been a member since 1990 and has the honour of serving as International Vice-President.
Our platform (foroconvivenciacordoba.org) is therefore the heir to the I Córdoba Forum, successfully held in the city of the same name from 15 to 17 May 2019, to which the first section of our website is devoted. The stated objective of this first Forum was to become a lasting event, ideally biennial, bringing together NGOs and personalities with widely differing aims, but whose common denominator (whether consciously or not) is to contribute —each in their own way and in diverse forms— to a world of greater Convivence.
The idea was also that, through these fortunate repetitions, this event would help the city of Córdoba, host of the Forum, to become, naturally and progressively, the World Capital of Convivence, a status to which the myth of al-Andalus lends it a pioneering character.
It is to this dual objective that this website is dedicated, and for which we all work within the Paradigma Córdoba Foundation for Convivence, in particular the Commissioner of the II Forum, Dr Robert Lanquar, member of our Board of Directors and principal author and webmaster of our platform, as well as the author of numerous articles, seminars and books, in several languages, devoted to Convivence and to the promotion of this concept, so necessary in these troubled times.
It is now up to you to join this Great Project which, in time, should surpass us all!
Jacques Moreillon, LL.M., PhD

Message from the president
Dear readers of the Córdoba Coexistence Forum, old faithfuls or newcomers, WELCOME BACK! Here we are back on the web…

Europe, last chance
An urgent reflection on the future of the European Union, based on the analysis of Enrico Letta and other leading figures. The text warns of a critical situation shaped by strategic dependencies and a lack of integration, and calls for far-reaching reforms in innovation, defence and governance. Europe faces a decisive choice: act now or accept its decline.

Culture wars or convivence: a societal choice
“Culture wars” have evolved into symbolic confrontations that polarise and fragment society. In contrast, convivence proposes the active integration of diversity as a shared asset. It does not eliminate disagreement, but prevents it from becoming destructive, offering a demanding and necessary path for pluralistic democracies.

Zygmunt Bauman and the Ethics of Convivence
Zygmunt Bauman analysed the fragility of our “liquid modernity”, where uncertainty fuels anxiety and the temptation to exclude. In response, he advocated an ethic of “being together” grounded in accepting difference and taking responsibility for the Other, in resonance with the idea of Convivence.

There is no Convivence Without Good Communication
The history of the ITU is the story of human connection. From the telegraph to the digital era, it has fostered international cooperation, technical standardisation and global access to telecommunications. Today, it remains essential for connectivity, innovation and convivence in an increasingly interdependent world.

Hubert Étienne and convivence: an ethics of attention for the digital age
Drawing on René Girard, Hubert Étienne reflects on the risks of technologies designed to capture and polarize human attention. In response, he advocates an ethics of attention capable of guiding artificial intelligence and social relations toward responsibility, limits, and care for others, in dialogue with the Andalusian tradition of convivence.
